Patrick Beitel is Senior Advisor at McKinsey & Company, Inc. Before becoming a Senior Advisor, Patrick was a Senior Partner at McKinsey's Frankfurt office.
Patrick has more than 17 years of experience serving clients in the market infrastructure space globally and led the Global Exchanges and Market Infrastructure Practice until end of 2014. Patrick has previously served stock exchanges, capital markets service providers, clearing and settlement institutions and information providers in strategic, regulatory and business-related topics. He is a regular speaker at the World Exchange Congress.
Patrick has directly been involved in various engagements with McKinsey, namely stimulation programmes for a leading stock exchange operator with the aim of boosting the domestic capital market and attracting foreign investors and issuers, assessment of key levers to revitalise the capital market for a financial services authority in the aftermath of the financial crisis, and development of a capital markets stimulation programme in close collaboration with the domestic regulators authority focusing on market structure, new products and services and the stimulation of trading activity, to name a few.
Patrick has also developed a growth programme for a global exchange organisation in the data and index business and designed a regulatory strategy and approach for a leading global derivatives exchange including stakeholder related whitepapers, and developed regulatory strategy for the cash division of a leading stock exchange supporting the exchange in shaping the code of conduct.
Patrick holds a Master's Degree in Business Administration from University of Karlsruhe and University of Louvain-la-Neuve and a Ph.D. in Banking and Finance from University of Witten/Herdecke.
