Tony D’Aloisio was appointed Chairman, Australian Securities and Investments Commission on 13 May 2007, following his appointment as Commissioner in November 2006.
Tony has been an active member of the International Organization of Securities Commission (IOSCO) Technical Committee and Executive Committee since 2007, including co-chairing its Task Force on Unregulated Markets and Products. Tony is the chair of the international Joint Forum, which is made up of senior bank, insurance and securities supervisors representing IOSCO, the Basel Committee on Banking Supervision and the International Association of Insurance Supervisors.
Tony was Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer at the Australian Stock Exchange from 2004 until October 2006.
He was Chief Executive Partner at Mallesons Stephen Jaques between 1992 and 2004. Joining Mallesons in 1977, Tony practised as a commercial lawyer until becoming Chief Executive Partner. His practice areas were mergers and acquisitions, taxation, restrictive trade practices, and international trade and investment.
Tony was Managing Partner of the Year in 2001 and 2002 (Australian Law Awards) and received the Australian Government Centenary Medal in 2000 for services to law and taxation.
